As some of you may have noticed, the postings at The Amateur Law Professor have been quite intermittent lately. A lot of this can be attributed to the workload that comes with being a first year associate. Some can be attributed to me wanting to have a social life and remain sane. Luckily, a solution has been found, and it comes by way of promotion.
You see, the humble professor has taken a job as dean. What does a dean do? Well a dean moves forward the mission of the institution. The dean hires faculty. To that end, three extremely well qualified professors have joined The Amateur Law Professor.
Kyle Olive is a very active member of WSAJ, and one of the most competent young attorneys I know.
Kyle Olive was born in Evanston, Illinois in 1975. He received his law degree with honors from the Seattle University School of Law in 2004. While in law school, he was a Presidential Law Scholar and a member of the Dean’s list. After law school, he spent a year clerking for Justice Tom Chambers of the Washington Supreme Court. Kyle’s practice emphasize nearly exclusively personal injury law including automobile accidents, construction accidents, wrongful death, and products liability.
Kyle Olive is Associate Dean at The Amateur Law Professor, and he will be covering Division I of the Washington State Court of Appeals.
Athena Jordan is also an active member of WSAJ, a participant in the trial lawyers college, and still manages to have a deep connection to her cases despite having a workload I’ve only seen very few people able to handle.
Athena is a 2008 graduate of Seattle University School of Law. Athena’s practice focuses exclusively on Personal Injury.

Athena Jordan will be covering Division II of the Washington State Court of Appeals.
Walt Williams
What can I say about Walt? Walt is quite honestly the nicest attorney I’ve ever met. Anyone who’s met Walt will agree with you.
Walt Williams is a solo practitioner with an office in Bellevue, Washington. Walt worked as a paralegal for 15 years before attending law school. While a paralegal, he worked in bankruptcy, family law, real estate, wills, probate, criminal law, personal injury, employment law, and medical malpractice. Early on he worked for an attorney that was blind which required Walt to attend all court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials with the attorney and pay close attention to the proceedings so that he could communicate visual observations to the attorney. This experience led Walt to pursue his degree in law. During law school Walt continued to work for two of the state’s leading medical malpractice firms. Currently, he has a general law practice with a focus on personal injury, family law, employment law and medical malpractice. He also does contract work for one the state’s leading attorneys in legal fee disputes. He earned his J.D. at Seattle University School of Law and earned his B.A. at the University of Washington.
Walt will be covering Division III of the Washington State Court of Appeals.
So where does that leave the dean? I will be covering the Washington State Supreme Court of course. You will notice a different look and feel to the site. As time goes on, things will be added, removed, tinkered with, and rearranged until we get to a comfortable point.
Why the change to WordPress? Simple. Multiple authors without having to pay through the teeth. That, and it was a good time to get a domain name. Those of you with Feedburner will notice that you’ve been automatically switched over. That’s right, I take care of my subscribers
